The
first concentration camps are set up and run by the SA. They are makeshift
converted barracks to hold political opponents, but will develop into a huge
system of camps throughout Europe forming the backbone of the reign of terror.
Dachau camp, near Munich, is established on 22 March, and will become a ruthless
training ground for the SS.
