Extermination camp
One of six camps set up by the Nazis exclusively for the purpose of killing men, women and children en masse as efficiently as possible, through the use of poisonous gas. These included Auschwitz-Birkenau, Majdanek, Chelmno, Belzec, Sobibor and Treblinka. Within three years, over four million people were murdered by the Nazis in these six camps alone.
