Hitler wasted no time consolidating his power. Within months, all political parties except for the NSDAP had been banned, concentration camps were constructed, opponents were arrested en masse and the media was brought under state control. Hitler's single intent was to gain total power, as with this he could enforce the changes he saw as necessary to create a German superstate.
