Eyewitness accounts are a valuable tool, because they are first-hand and often do not need any interpretation. These accounts can take many forms; diaries and letters, escapees' reports, the writing of victims trying to inform history. Nazis wrote reports and letters. People who looked on also reported what they saw.

Here are a few examples of many eyewitness accounts; they have been arranged into groups for easy reference.
